Meet Justin, a transitioning military member from Joint Base Lewis McChord who joined the WorkEx internship program after trying to find a new path in life. Justin had prior experience in machining, but wanted to further his career development in machining through Automatic Products.
WorkEx is a strategic partnership between the Thurston County Chamber of Commerce, PacMtn Workforce Development Council, AJAC, and partnering employers to offer structured internship opportunities for transitioning military members.
Automatic Products, an aerospace assemblies and commercial applications company located in Sumner, Washington, began hiring WorkEx interns in 2023 as a means to give back to the men and women who served in the military. Automatic Products has enrolled registered apprentices through AJAC’s four-year machinist program. Upon completion of the internship, Justin hopes to continue his education and develop his foundational knowledge of machining through AJAC’s apprenticeship programs.
