The Aerospace Joint Apprenticeship Committee (AJAC) was given an opportunity to highlight our state’s first-ever Youth Apprenticeship program on KBTC’s “Northwest Now” show. AJAC’s Executive Director Lynn Strickland spoke in length about AJAC’s role in developing and implementing this program for the Tacoma School District and how our community and government partners collaboratively came together to launch this program.
“Northwest Now“, hosted by Tom Layson provides a perspective on the issues that have western Washington talking, and AJAC could not be more proud to have our K-12 initiative being the focal point of discussion.
Joining Lynn in the round table was Washington State’s Department of Labor and Industries Program Manager, Jody Robbins, Bates Technical College President Ron Langrel and from Governor Jay Inslee’s office, John Altman. Each participant discussed how their organization helped AJAC create a Youth Apprenticeship program which provides high school students with an opportunity to develop a advanced skill set for some of our state’s high-growth industries.
