AJAC Standards of Apprenticeship

L&I Logo

Standards of Apprenticeship govern how an apprenticeship works and have specific requirements. These documents will explain the requirements of each AJAC committee. The director of the Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) appoints the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council (WSATC) to regulate apprenticeship program standards.

The WSATC is the sole regulatory body for apprenticeship standards in Washington. It approves, administers, and enforces apprenticeship standards, and recognizes apprentices when either registered with L&I’s apprenticeship section, or under the terms and conditions of a reciprocal agreement. WSATC also must approve any changes to apprenticeship program standards.
